SIM² Education

SIM² KU Leuven is involved in a variety of educational programmes and projects.

8 regular Master Programmes

The students can follow traditional master education having to choose from 8 master programmes grouped in the SIM² KU Leuven cluster. The constant interaction and collaboration with SIM² KU Leuven researchers as well as industry, makes the students well-prepared for the challenges of professional environment and allows them to obtain a hands-on experience already during their studies.

SUMA Master Programme (EIT RawMaterials)

Next to KU Leuven-based master programmes, SIM² KU Leuven coordinates Sustainable Materials (SUMA) master programme which is organised in collaboration with some of the best educational programmes in the field of sustainable materials engineering in Europe. SUMA involves studies in two different institutions, an internship in a company and a master thesis in collaboration with a company. The programme has been awarded the EIT label.

Internships

The internships offered both in SUMA and KU Leuven master programmes are in collaboration with internationally well-renowned companies and often jump-start the professional career of SIM² KU Leuven graduates.

Doctoral schools

Two doctoral schools – Arenberg Doctoral School and Doctoral School for the Humanities and Social Sciences – offer a high quality doctoral education at KU Leuven. Through summer schools, seminars, workshops etc., they give the PhD researchers an opportunity to develop their knowledge and research expertise but also to acquire transversal skills needed in professional life.

Educational projects

Finally, SIM² KU Leuven is involved in diverse educational projects which aim at developing innovative and interactive learning methods and awareness-building among schoolchildren and students. SIM² KU Leuven actively participates in several Wider Society Learning Projects funded by EIT Raw Materials. Overall, EIT RawMaterials Academy is an important partner in SIM² KU Leuven educational projects.
