Making the solvometallurgical recovery of PGMs circular

75fac ozge 2024 16.9

Meryem Ӧzge Arman, Clio Deferm and Koen Binnemans, Department of Chemistry, KU Leuven have a new poster presentation from the recent ICHS2024 Symposium.

The presented work derives from the FIREFLY project, which promotes the sustainable evolution of the catalyst-based chemical industry via electrification with the aim to reduce third-party dependence on metals and fossil energy. This concept focuses on the development of electro-driven technologies based on modelling and optimization of metal recycling from spent, waste, and offspecification catalysts available in Europe, the incorporation of renewable electricity in these technologies, a digital tool towards a predictive decision-making, and the manufacturing (electro)catalysts for innovative (electro)chemical processes which would overcome lack of circularity.
