NOTE: The majority of the 2020 Spring meeting symposia have been shifted to the 2021 Spring Meeting:
(1) Upon agreement by the authors, accepted papers of the 2020 Spring meeting will be rescheduled for presentation during the upcoming VIRTUAL 2021 Spring meeting. Optionally, authors may implement advances achieved in the last year. All presenters of the 2020 Spring will be contacted soon concerning their participation in 2021.
(2) In addition, all interested attendees are strongly encouraged to submit new work.
lt is with great pleasure that we announce the 2021 Spring Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) to be held as a VIRTUAL Conference from May 31st to June 4th, 2021.
Having faced and stilling struggling with the quite exceptional pandemic years 2020 and 2021, E-MRS has assessed various options how to serve the materials research community as a platform for scientific exchange and dissemination of the newest results in the new year 2021. The concept to restart the scientific meeting culture of E-MRS aims to go beyond a simple interim solution of having a virtual conference. The crises related to COVID-19 is aimed to be used as a starting point to further develop the materials research exchange platform to serve the new needs of researchers and engineers.
In line with the previous conferences, it is expected that 2021 Spring Meeting will be the largest in Europe in the field of Materials Science and Technology. Indeed, the E-MRS Spring Meeting is a major conference with over 2500 attendees from all over the world every year.
The VIRTUAL 2021 Spring Meeting will consist of parallel symposia with invited speakers, oral and poster presentations, assorted by plenary sessions and a number of workshops and training courses. As a new item for posters, short oral presentation will give each attendee the opportunity to highlight the major results.
The high quality scientific program will address different topics organized into 19 symposia arranged in 4 clusters covering the fields of energy materials, nanomaterials and advanced characterization, biomaterials and soft materials, as well as materials for electronics, magnetics and photonics.
In parallel with the technical sessions, international exhibitors will have the opportunity to promote their equipment, systems, products, software, publications and services during the meeting.
The focal Point of the Conference will be the plenary sessions each consisting of high level presentation given by Prof. Ben Feringa from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands – Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2016); Prof. André Geim from the University of Manchester, U.K. – Nobel Laureate in Physics (2010) and Prof. Ulrike Diebold from TU Vienna (Austria).
